1928 hand made fitted luggage
The Job was to perfectly reproduce the wooden frame for custom fitted luggage from only 90 year old pictures

1929 on a ship from England to Europe

2017 on its way to Pebble Beach

Determine shape and dimensions
This luggage needed to fit the car exactly
It was very important to get it right from only 3 poor resolution photographs

Model the trunk
There were unusual hidden hinges and an opening sequence that needed to be worked out before fabrication

Lid Form
The radius and corner of the lid had to be correct and stable - a form was made to fit in the heated vacuum press

Assembly
Once all the parts were cut and formed they were trimmed, fit and bonded - notice the mahogany hardwood inserts for mounting to the car

Vacuum Form the Lid
The lid was created in one piece from multiple layers of .125 Birch plywood and vacuum pressed overnight for stability

Finished Shell
This is the finished shell as it was delivered to the restoration company
After covering and final assembly by the restorers
